Charlie sent photos that reminded me how nice it is to be in Arizona during the winter. We miss them both since they moved to the northeast in July but Charlie comes to visit us once in a while. He'll soon be celebrating his 32nd birthday. Where does the time go?

It's Catch Up Time

At the end of February LaRayne invited us to celebrate two birthdays: Kathie and Judy had birthdays so close together that it worked out wonderfully. There was plenty of food and drinks and we're always surprised by new tasty appetizers. Above are the birthday ladies.

Nancy's Birthday Bowling Celebration hosted by Cathey

To celebrate Nancy's birthday the Fitness Buddies, except for our Irish lass, enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Anacapa Restaurant on our Corte Bella campus. From there we went to the bowling alley in Sun City West. I wasn't able to bowl due to a thumb injury so I cheered the group on and took photos. I found out that taking photos in the bowling alley doesn't work too well...too dark.

Cyndi made this special "birthday cake" for Nancy. She made cupcakes and turned them into bowling pins and then constructed a bowling alley and a ball. People at the alley stopped by to look and ask about it. It was a work of art.

We had such a great time that some of us are talking about bowling in a league this summer.

Childhood friend comes to visit from Michigan

Sandy and I have been friends since 6th grade. We were maid of honor for each other's weddings. We haven't lived in the same state for 42 years but managed to keep in touch which is much easier now with email.

Sandy was my guest at 9 Hole Golf League on Tuesday. She hits a good ball. We did some shopping at Cave Creek on Wednesday but there was very little of interest. That evening we both went to Third Wednesday Bunco and she was the big winner.

Thursday we left early for Tucson to visit our friend, Terry Ann. We might have arrived an hour earlier if we hadn't brought the High School Yearbooks. They were too interesting and we missed our turns. We did the same thing on the way back to Sun City West. We turned a 6 hour trip into an eight hour trip, but we had so much fun we could have driven around all day.

While we were in Tucson we had lunch outside at the Tohono Chul Park. It was very crowded so we waited a long time for our food which was "worth waiting for". We shopped in their Museum Shop and I found lots of things to buy. Also we were able to take the tram at Sabino Canyon with Terry Ann and her cousins. It was wonderful. What beautiful scenery. We tried to capture it all in photos but I'm not sure we did it justice.

It was wonderful to spend time with an old friend who's still young.

Our First Pajama Party Bunco Night

On our first Pajama Party Bunco Night we came in all colors and styles of sleepwear. Some of the ladies used some great imagination and looked like they'd spent a lot of time with their outfits. There were prizes for the best outfits and other things that are unmentionable on this blog because blogspot might pull me off.

Donna was a great hostess and Eddie helped her by picking up the hot pizzas that tasted great.
We had a chance to visit with everyone while we ate which we usually don't have time to do. It was great fun and everyone laughed till they cried.

Bunco was even better, at least for me. I won a big prize for most Buncos even though we had to have a roll off between 3 other ladies who had the same number of Buncos. I went home richer in every way.

I know it's been a long time between posts. It's been on my "to do" list for just as long. We had a wonderful time watching the Super Bowl even though our team didn't win. We thought it was an exciting game and certainly sustained our interest even through the ads.

Dennis and Velvet arrived on the 4th of February to celebrate Dennis turning 40 years of age on Saturday. We enjoyed their visit so much and they would have enjoyed their visit even more IF I hadn't backed my car out of our garage and hit the side of their rental car...on the morning of Dennis' 40th birthday. That did put a damper on the rest of the day. How do you apologize for something like that? I tried every way and Dennis and Velvet were so sweet about it but I couldn't get past it.

Sunday Beau came for brunch and Diane dropped Sophie and Ben off so they could spend time with Beau, Uncle Dennis and Velvet. Charlie was in D.C. working. I was hopping around the kitchen making bacon, sausages, english muffins, poured the batter in both waffle makers and set the timer. When the timer went off I opened the waffle makers and the batter was pure dough--I had plugged in the waffle maker but forgot the turn them on. That was 4 waffles we had to do without. To add to the confusion the circuit blew and we had no power in all the outlets. Don threw the switch at the circuit box after we had tried every outlet in the kitchen and we were finally able to get power for all the small appliances.

To say that I made Dennis'40th birthday a memorable occasion is putting it mildly. His flight left on Monday afternoon and I don't remember sabatoging anything on that day. You could say he left unharmed.

I went back to my normal way of life without my car. It was at the body shop getting the wrinkles removed. Don and I did play some golf and that helped me forget the "birthday weekend from hell". Not that there weren't fun times, but it kind of overshadowed everything else.
